Effective Date: September 2, 2026

This AI Policy is part of our public documentation for schools and for 1EdTech TrustEd Apps review. It covers the Play With ASL consumer app, School Edition, the LTI 1.3 Tool, and this website. Read it with the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
1. Student-facing product
The games, LTI launches, grade passback, and rostering that learners and teachers use do not send student education records, LMS names, emails, scores, or game responses to a generative AI model to produce the activity.
Sign videos and vocabulary in the product are filmed and curated by people. They are not generated by an AI model at runtime for the learner.
2. What we do not do
- We do not use generative AI to advertise to students or to profile students for ads.
- We do not sell student or account data to AI training companies.
- We do not require a learner to chat with a bot to complete a Play With ASL assignment.
- We do not claim that the app is an AI tutor.
3. Internal operations
Play With ASL staff may use AWS machine-learning services (including Amazon Bedrock) and similar tools to search our own documentation, draft internal ops answers, or assist staff. Those tools are not the student-facing product. We do not send school roster files or LMS education records into those staff tools as a product feature.
Infrastructure partners may use their own AI-assisted engineering tools on systems they operate for us. That does not change the student-facing rule in Section 1.
4. Exploratory work (not in the live learner product)
We have discussed possible future features such as automated sign-quality checks on our own video library, or staff aids for curriculum and game setup. Those ideas are not enabled in the live LTI Tool or consumer app as generative-AI student features. If we ever use generative AI in a learner-facing or LMS-connected feature, we will update this policy and the Privacy Policy before that feature is turned on, including what data (if any) would be sent to a model.
5. School control
Schools that need a contractual bar on AI subprocessors can say so in their written agreement. Until a feature described in Section 4 exists, there is no generative-AI subprocessor in the learner data path.
6. Changes
Material changes follow the same notice rules as the Privacy Policy (Last Updated date, and 30 days' advance notice for material changes where we have institutional contacts).
